Yak-52 Transition

The Yak-52 transition course prepares a student to act as PIC of the Yak-52. Ground instruction includes aircraft history, systems, normal and emergency procedures and performance, boldface memory items, a review of warbird accidents and their causes, aeronautical decision making and regulations pertaining to the Yak-52. The flight portion of the course includes stalls, steep turns, basic aerobatics, unusual attitude recoveries, normal and crosswind landings, overhead approaches, cross country planning, simulated engine out approaches, and emergency procedures.

All Gauntlet Warbirds Yak-52 training is conducted under an FAA Letter of Deviation Authority (LODA) issued by the DuPage FSDO. Any pilot holding a private certificate with a single engine land rating qualifies for training in the Yak-52, a current medical is not required. Student pilot certificates can satisfy the prerequisites under certain conditions, contact Greg Morris at greg@gauntletwarbirds.com to discuss your training goals.
